You may already know that Flying Irish Creations is my father's brainchild. (I introduced him in a short blog post that you can read here if you would like.) There is a detail that I did not touch on during the initial introduction, and to me it is a very important one. The name Flying Irish Creations comes from his years in the United States Air Force and the origin of his last name. (The photo on his section of the shop is actually him in his uniform somewhere around the late 1970's or early 1980's.)
We've been diligently working on a website to showcase his creations and just launched it. Stop by and take a look! www.flyingirishcreations.com
Custom Pet Portraits
Pet lovers often search for a fitting tribute to their furry friends, regardless of whether the pet is still with us or has already crossed the 'rainbow bridge.' The example above is Brutus, and he was my Great Pyrenees. Flying Irish was provided with the photo on the left and the desired name. The second photo is the final result and the third is a close up of the detail. These portraits are created by burning the image into the wood, known as pyrography.
Flying Irish Creations also offers numerous other products, a few of which are available here. He is building up inventory, as he plans on setting up at more local shows this year.
He has made vases, keepsake boxes, themed pieces and much, much more! Here is a bowl that he made for me - it is the 'Secret Garden' bowl. One of the things I love the most about this particular piece is that he used anomalies in the wood as the trees in the garden and they are visible on both the outside and the inside.
